Honor has launched the Magic9 in China, bringing flagship hardware to a relatively compact smartphone. The phone features dual 200MP ARRI cameras, an 8,000mAh battery, a 120Hz OLED display and the new MagicOS 11 software.
Pricing starts at 4,999 yuan (around $745).
Compact 6.37-Inch 120Hz Display
The Magic9 features a 6.37-inch flat OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Honor claims peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, while the display can drop to 1 nit for more comfortable viewing in dark environments.
The phone also includes 3,840Hz PWM dimming, low-blue-light technology and AI-based eye-care features. Honor says it has received TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Care 6.0 certification.
The device measures 8.49mm thick and weighs 209 grams. It is available in Popcorn Yellow, Opening White, Curtain Black and Olive Green.
Dual 200MP ARRI Camera System
The camera setup is one of the Magic9’s biggest highlights.
The rear system includes a 200MP main camera, a 200MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
The main sensor is 1/1.4-inch with an f/1.9 aperture and CIPA 7.5 stabilization. The 200MP telephoto camera uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and 85mm equivalent focal length, with support for up to 120x digital zoom.
Honor has also partnered with ARRI to bring cinematic color and video tools to the phone. The Magic9 supports ARRI LogC3, 87 ARRI Looks and a cinematic 2.39:1 recording mode.
An optional teleconverter can extend the telephoto camera to a claimed 200mm equivalent focal length.
Snapdragon Chip and 8,000mAh Battery
The Magic9 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
Its biggest hardware surprise is the 8,000mAh battery, which uses a high-silicon design with 25% silicon content.
Charging supports up to 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
MagicOS 11 and AI Features
The phone runs MagicOS 11, which introduces several AI features built around Honor’s YOYO assistant.
Users get tools such as YOYO Task, YOYO Proactive Service, AI Call Assistant, AI Calendar, AI Recorder, AI Notes and AI File Management.
The phone also includes a dedicated AI button and supports cross-device features through Honor Connect.
Connectivity and Durability
The Magic9 supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and an IR blaster.
Other features include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, dedicated camera button, dual speakers and three microphones.
For protection, the phone carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings under controlled laboratory conditions. Honor notes that these ratings do not mean the phone is permanently waterproof.
